Eight Children, 94 Other Stranded Nigerians Return to Lagos From Libya

According to the Lagos Territorial Office Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, in a statement on Tuesday, the returnees – mostly young women – were assisted to the country aboard a chartered flight via Al Buraq Air.

The National Emergency Management Agency has announced the arrival of 102 stranded Nigerians from Tripoli, Libya.

According to the Lagos Territorial Office Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, in a statement on Tuesday, the returnees – mostly young women – were assisted to the country aboard a chartered flight via Al Buraq Air.

He identified the aircraft as Boeing 737-800 with registration number 5A-DMG.

Farinloye said the director general of the agency received the returnees on arrival at about 1745 hours (5.45 pm) at the Cargo Wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

He said the returnees’ profile indicates that 93 female adults, three female children and three female infants were amongst those who were brought back.

He said one adult male, one male child and one male infant completed the 102 returnees.

NEMA was joined by the police, Department of State Services, Nigeria Immigration Service, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria.
