A Mediterranean Saving Humanity vessel rescued 77 migrants attempting to cross from Libya to Europe. Their overcrowded boat was found in distress 36 miles from Lampedusa.
The rescue was coordinated with “Alarm Phone,” an NGO project. After being saved, the migrants were transported to Lampedusa for safety.
Two NGOs accused the Libyan Coast Guard of endangering lives during a separate rescue. The guards allegedly interfered with efforts to save migrants.
SOS Humanity rescued over 60 people from a rubber boat that had spent over a day at sea. Women, children, and other vulnerable individuals were onboard.
In another rescue, Humanity 1 saved 47 people from a second overcrowded boat. The Libyan Coast Guard’s actions reportedly put lives at further risk.
