Morocco and Israel signed last week in Marrakech a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of an agricultural technology project focusing on aquaponics.

The agreement provides for the establishment of a center for agricultural studies. The institution is expected to serve as a hub for knowledge exchange and innovation in farming techniques, benefiting both nations.

Besides, Moroccan and Israeli agriculture teams are poised to launch a technological agricultural aquaculture field project. The initiative holds the potential to address agricultural challenges and enhance food production methods.

Israeli Agriculture Minister, Avraham Moshe Dichter, who signed the deal along with his Moroccan peer Mohammed Sadiki, told the press that the MoU is aimed at enhancing the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the fields of agriculture, wheat cultivation, and water.

“This is a significant step forward for both countries,” he said, expressing his conviction that within a few years, both nations will achieve outstanding results in terms of food security.

As part of the effort to strengthen relations between the two countries, Sadiki and Dichter held talks on the sidelines of the 2nd African Conference on Health Risk Reduction, convened in Marrakech last week. Their discussions focused particularly on prospects for bolstering cooperation in the agricultural and fisheries sectors.

The collaboration seeks to tap into each nation’s unique expertise to tackle shared challenges in the agricultural domain.

The African Conference on Health Risk Reduction actually focused on water management, environmental conservation, and food security.
