Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe has invited all parties to discuss a lasting solution to the island nation’s decades-long ethnic issue involving the Tamil minorities. Speaking at the Parliament yesterday, the President expressed confidence in finding a solution by next year. He said that an all-party meeting will be called in the week following 11th of December.

Mr Wickremesinghe had previously invited all Tamil political parties to hold a discussion on issues faced by the Tamil community. The meeting was called with a view to resolving them with no foreign intervention by 4th of February next year when Sri Lanka celebrates 75 years of independence from the British.
